Importance of Coenzyme

An exciting antioxidant in recent years is coenzyme, which is essential to the health of all our tissues. Our body can produce coenzyme, but it usually doesn’t make enough. The deficiencies are commonly seen in people with heart disease, diabetes, ulcer disease, HIV and AIDS. For example, Aids and heart disease patients have very low coenzyme levels. This nutrient is especially helpful for heart conditions, since it increases the pumping action and boosts the electrical system of the heart. The recommended dose is 30 to 100 milligrams a day and even higher doses in heart disease or heart failure cases. Cholesterol lowering drugs actually block the synthesis of coenzyme in the body. So when people are taking these drugs it is wise to supplement with this antioxidant. Coenzyme is found in sardines, spinach, peanuts and beef. Since we may not take inadequate amounts, doctors recommend that it be included in our multivitamin and mineral supplement.
